We found our property through Val Aslett at Agence Thom. Buying a property during lockdown was a challenge but Val was very helpful before, during and after the purchase process . When we finally were able to visit the house we are delighted - Val had presented the property accurately in almost every detail.

We used two estates agents to market our house - Agence Thom and the local branch of a nationwide French company. The difference was enormous in terms of the photos and the particulars on their respective websites, and the in the efforts made to secure a sale. Agence Thom were exceptionally good and we can recommend them without hesitation.

My husband & I have recently purchased a property in Chailland after a 3 year search for a holiday home in the area. I cannot even begin to list the help and support offered during the complex conveyancing process, all new to us and quite daunting at times. I'm not sure where to start to express my gratitude and satisfaction with Jane's expert guidance through the process of buying an ancient Manor House in the midst of the pandemic. From the start, Jane was professional, patient and good humoured, guiding four buyers on two continents through the intricacies of acquiring the house of our dreams. She is well equipped with local contacts for non-French speakers and goes well beyond the framework of a “normal” real estate agent. My experience with Jane at Agence Thom was wonderful. I contacted Jane at the beginning of COVID. From our first conversation, she had her work cut out for her; we were two couples, one in the USA and one in Italy trying to buy a house in a part of France they had never been to during a pandemic. None of us spoke French. As soon as I spoke to Jane, I knew that I was in good hands. She translated documents for us, gave us video house tours, and had multiple Zoom conversations with us. Additionally, she connected us with an English-speaking notaire who took care of our title, necessary documents, and finances. As we could not travel to France for the closing, Jane went in our stead. With Jane's help, not only were we able to buy a beautiful house in France under impossible conditions, but we gained a friend.

The Agency, and Jane in particular, spent many hours going through all of the French documents with me so that I understood the whole process. She acted as a fair and professional go between myself and the vendor. She even helped me to open a bank account and organise my home insurance.
